I would like to mention Howard Rheingold and R. Mitchell in connection with assisting my research, and also the small print-run magazines in Japan and the States, who were good enough to send me material.

Special mention must go to Bob Stone of ARRL, Salford, who was more than happy for me to visit the Robotics Research Laboratory; suggesting we delay until early 1992 in order for me to be able to try the very latest product in this field of research. Whilst still going ahead, due to Mr. Stone's current illness, this visit has had to be postponed until after the submission date for the dissertation.
